Postdoctoral Opportunities in Brain NMR at Georgetown University
The nuclear magnetic resonance laboratory of Georgetown UniversityUs
Institute for Cognitive and Computational Sciences has openings for
two postdoctoral fellows, one experienced with in vivo brain magnetic
resonance imaging and spectroscopy in animals (Ph.D. or equivalent in
physics, radiology, biophysics, or related field required), and one
experienced in cortical electrophysiology and/or plasticity (Ph.D.
or equivalent in neuroscience, neurophysiology, or related field
required).
The NMR laboratory, now under construction, will begin operation in
early 1996, and feature a state-of-the-art horizontal-bore seven Tesla
rodent scanner, plus a physiology lab, electronics shop, and ample
computational resources. We are now assembling a multidisciplinary
team to conduct neuroscience research using magnetic resonance imaging
and spectroscopy, with foci on animal models of CNS disorders and
plasticity.
The Institute for Cognitive and Computational Sciences, housed in a
brand-new research building, offers opportunities for collaboration
with faculty members in the neurosciences. Georgetown University,
founded in 1789, is located overlooking the Potomac River in
Washington, D.C.
Initial appointment is for two years, commencing early 1996 (or
before), and offers competitive salary and benefits. To apply, please
send C.V., including names of three references, and a brief statement
of research interests, to:
