Greetings,
As part of a class on learning, I've been tasked to give a
presentation on "the hypothalamus and learning inhibition." From an
earlier human physiology class, I remember hearing that oxytocin was
thought to somehow disrupt memory, and I've found several books that
mention this, but they tend to just gloss over the subject. In fact, one
basic neuroscience text noted that there was "a lot" of research being
done on the memory inhibiting properties of oxyticin but did not give
either a reference or a description of what those properties might be.
Also, from what I do know and have been able to find out about oxytocin,
it would seem to actually facilitate memory. Anyway, if anyone knows
where I might find some specific information on the memory/learning
inhibiting properties of oxytocin (or anything else related to the
hypothalamus), please let me know.
