Can anybody help?

Hi, my mother over the past two years has lost 30-40 lbs.; when she
stands she falls to the side, once in a while falling down; her speech
is severly slowed and slurred; she makes facial expressions she is not
aware of, ie. smiling, funny head movements; she can't walk heel to
heel; and her arms and shoulders are also moving awkward.

She is only 42. Christmas was the first time I was home in two years,
which I immediately took her to a doctor who reffered us to a
neurologist. He ran tests on blood, chest ex-rays, and an MRI. All of
which showed up okay. She runs a small town newspaper working with alot
of dark room chemicals for 20+ years, with little venelation. I don't
know if this is related but she hasn't for some time been able to smell
or taste, she believes it's because of her allergies. She can sneeze
for hours. She also has frequent diarrhea, which would explain the
weight loss. Claritan is the only medicine she is on, which is for the
allergies. Funny thing is, this apparently all this started when she
started taking the claritan two years ago. Doctors think it must be
coincidence, as they can't find any side effects to match this. She also
has numerous fillings in her mouth, could this cause all this??

The neurologist and colleagues feel she needs to go to Mayo. They are
clueless at what she could have unless if it has to do with the
chemicals. My mom has a big case of DENIAL and feels she is fine, I'm
in the process of working on getting her there. Unfortunately I live in
CA with four kids and she is in rural South Dakota.

If anyone can give me any direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time.
