Effect of biphasic vs. monophasic rectangular pulses in nerve depolarisation

Hello,

My problem:
When stimulating innervated muscles, a biphasic symmetric rectangular
current is often used. What are the advantages of this current type
beneath less polarising effect? Are there differences in depolarising
effect?
Which electrode should be placed on the motor point, in case of motor
point stimulation? Why?
