POSTDOCTORAL AND PhD POSITIONS IN PROTEIN EXPRESSION AND STRUCTURAL
BIOLOGY
Three positions are available in the Institute of Cellular Signalling
(ICS), University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands, dept. Biochemistry,
research group G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR). Strongly motivated
individuals are sought to work in a thriving, collaborative research
environment.
1. A postdoctoral position is available to further develop functional
expression and stable-isotope labeling of GPCR in the recombinant
baculovirus expression system. Large-scale culture and purification should
produce sufficient material for structure/function analysis (FT-IR, NMR).
The applicant should have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology,
with research experience in cell culture. Expertise in protein
purification and characterization is recommended.
2. A Ph.D. position is available that will focus on
structure/function analysis of recombinant GPCR by FT-IR difference
spectroscopy and molecular modeling.
The applicant should have a master's degree or equivalent level of
education with a sound training in Biophysics or Biophysical Chemistry and
with a strong interest in biomolecular research. Preference will be given
to candidates with expertise in theory and practice of spectroscopic
analysis.
3. A third position is available, that can be filled either as a
postdoctoral project or as a graduate project. This project will
concentrate on structure/function studies of visual pigments. Baculovirus
expression and purification will be optimized to allow functional analyses
(photochemistry, signal transduction) and structural studies (solid-state
NMR in collaboration with Leiden university).
This applicant should have a strong background in molecular biology and
cell culture. Expertise in protein purification and characterization is
recommended.
Interested candidates can find further information at the web-site
of the ICS (http://surf.to/ICS) in the section jobs/biochemistry.
Alternatively, inquiries can be made at the address below.
The ICS offers state-of-the-art facilities for (training in)
recombinant DNA, biochemical, cell-biological and biophysical research.
The University of Nijmegen - Medical Center is an Equal Employment and
Equal Opportunity Employer. Women are encouraged to apply.
