There is evidence that married women are at greater risk of depression.
However, this is not due to marriage itself, but to the many risk factors
commonly associated with marriage in our culture: raising young children,
raising many children, limited activity outside the home, and much more.
Also, relationship difficulties in general can lead to depression.
