"G.E. Is Latest to Reconfigure Stock Options", By FLOYD NORRIS

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/08/01/business/01PLAC.html

the 'deeper' stuff is that the degree to which a Company is Forthright with its Investors is, itself, genuine 'Capital', and it should, therefore, be right in-there amongst the factors through which Companies Compete.

that is, rather than giving it 'short-shrift', state-it-plainly, as concrete stuff that makes investment in your Company a sounder decision than is investing in 'companies' that treat Investors as 'dupes'.

Truth, and Forthrightness with respect to Truth, are genuine Capital.

if your Company Honors Truth, don't be 'bashful' with respect to such.

state-it-plain.

go ahead and draw comparisons between your Company's Forthright Disclosure, and your 'competitors' 'funny-numbers' stuff.

let folks See Truth, inherent.

you're in Business to Compete, on the basis of what you actually accomplish.

a =Great= 'side'-benefit of this going-with-Truth approach is that, as folks within your Company get-it, it will establish a Corporate-Culture in which Recognizing what's 'broken', and Fixing-it, becomes the 'natural' thing to do.

your Company's Products will, then, come to incorporate Truth that's inherent in your Company's Chosen approach to doing Business.

when there's Truth in your Products, your Company Succeeds, so the 'side'-benefit stuff is really the central thing that derives in your having Chosen to Lead your Company in a 'moving toward' Truth way.

folks will respond with their Investment-Dollars, 'cause they'll Recognize the Worth inherent in your Company's 'moving toward' Truth.

[caveat: if your 'company' doesn't Honor Truth, do not 'feign' that it does. such is an 'invitation' to go-out-of-business.]
