The True Cost of the "Cold War" is showing itself in our 'times'.

Because the attention of the U.S was 'diverted' during the "Cold War", ever since, the merely-familiar thing has been 'resolution' of 'problems' via Military-Intervention.

When one looks, one sees what's been missed.

What's been missed?

The fact that the fruits of the white-hot Decisions made by the U. S. Founders - Democracy-Stuff - have gone out, far and wide, via ever-more-far-reaching communications capabilities [TV, Radio and Newspapers, via satellite, the Internet, relative-ease-of-travel [prior to 2001-09-11], educational exchanges, etc.] resulted in folks, far and wide, 'catching-a-glimpse' of 'the American Dream'.

Such has 'lit-the-flame' of Democracy's-Stuff within 'hearts' far and wide.

The 'problem' has been that communications have been 'incompletely-received' be-cause they were received in the midst of long-familiar stuff that's divergent with respect to Democracy.

Nevertheless, modern means of communication did 'light-the-fire' in 'hearts' with respect to the fruits of Democracy.

And the =Real= Problem has been that the U. S., 'preoccupied' with the 'Military-Intervention' 'mindset' that was thrust-upon it [AoK, Ap5; "inductive learning"] during the "Cold War", was oblivious to the fact that folks, far and wide, were beginning to become aware of what Democracy has to offer, and, rather than, Recognizing such, and Celebrating it, through the pouring-out of American-'Heart'-Stuff, American 'leadership', 'ensconced' within the inductive-learning relative to "what 'worked'" during the "Cold War", ratcheted-up it's 'Military-Intervention' 'mindset', rather than assisting folks who 'caught the fire' of Democracy to bridge between their formerly-familiar, far-from-Democracy stuff, to Democracy's Stuff.

The Costs of the "Cold War" are, thus, =Awesomely= Great, and being paid over and over again.

Wake up!

It's 'just' the American Revolution, having gone world-wide.

And, instead of Recognizing the 'spark-of-Hope' in there, which derives in our own example, we work to 'snuff-it-out'?

Note well, I'm =not= 'condoning' violence.

All I'm doing is pointing out that what's going on has been greatly mis-interpreted, and the U.S. 'leadership' has actually been working-against the stuff of the Founders' white-hot Decisions.

At the Crucial 'moment' the U. S. was 'blind' to itself, unable to nurture the 'flame' of Democracy.

It's not too-late, but I do 'fear' that it's 'two'-late, because the grip of the induced-during-the-"Cold War" 'Military-Intervention mentality is like a strangle-hold on all that America stands for.

Ironic that it should be so, no?

Yup.
