I =wasn't= asserting that "synapses"
are some sort of 'magic' things :-]

I was referring =only= to the role
"synapses" play in "transducing"
the "signal" that flows along a net-
work path, thus "mapping' such
into the neural Topology at the
cellular level. With respect to
this energy-transduction, the
energy-gradients that form in
dendritic trees =definitely= con-
stitutes a geometrically-ordered
"addressing" dynamic -- be-cause
the waxing and sub-action-potent-
ial-waining of the passive spread,
itself, constitutes a dynamic wave-
form that's flat-out useful with re-
spect stuff I'm working on in the
ER-Engram hypothesis.

Other energy wave-forms that I
routinely work with include the
way that glia's K+ "electrode"
functionality imparts dynamic
variability to the so-called "all
or nothing" action potential. [Ex-
perimenters have missed this be-
cause they routinely study action
potentials in "isolated" neurons,
or in "slices", in which the vast
majority of neruons' in vivo sur-
rounds are absent.]

Why this last stuff is important is
that, through it, the 3-D energy-
dynamics within a neuron can be
dynamically tuned by just altering
the loci of the various ion gates
within the cellular membrane,
which, NDT Predicts, is exactly
what happens in vivo.

And why this's is further-important
is that such dynamic tuning of the
intracelullar action potential's ion-
ic flow can flat-out account for the
Directing of =all= neuronal growth --
be-cause it'd flat-out form the in-
ternal energy-gradients that'd flat-
out =guide= the motions and orient-
ations of the cellular constituents that
are destined to be incorporated in
the new growth, and/or the neuronal
conformational changes through
which a neuron's 'instantaneous' jux-
tapositions with respect to it's cell-
ular neighbors tune its "memory"-cor-
related action.

I was addressing all of this stuff [and
more that I'm not going to discuss]
when I wrote of "synapses'" "energy-
transduction.

You know?

I =Love= Neuroscience, and it always
"cracks me up" when, usually because
it Hurts like Hell, I Err in giving this or
that that I'm discussing short-shrift, and
folks 'think' that that 'means' that I "don't
know what I'm talking about" :-]

The past couple of 'days' have been Hard
ones for me.

You know?

Why will no one do anything but submit
'Tests' to me, or ab-use the work I do,
treat me like a "Criminal", or some "freak"?

It's been close to 35 'years' of 'life'
without all the stuff that folks 'normally'
Live-for.

You know?

Do folks think that's "easy"?
