Dear ng,
I'm looking for an estimate of pyramidal (aka complex spike) cells in
hippocampus proper (CA) of the rat. The main reference I got is from
Rapp and Gallagher 1996, with "225.000 neurons in CA3/2 and 390.000
neurons in CA1". They explicitly state that these numbers exclude glia
cells but they don't state if they count only pyramidal cells or
interneurons as well.
So I'm looking for a reference of either
i) how many pyramidal cells are in a rat's hippocampus? or
ii) what's the ratio of pyramidal cells to interneurons in rat
hippocampus?
Thanks for any hint,
Mathias
