A position is available to develop a robust evaluation/validation
criterion of protein and nucleic acid structures determined by
multi-nuclear NMR. It is intended that a framework will be developed
which could be used as minimum acceptable criteria for assessing the
accuracy of solution structures and their extent of completeness
relative to the data input. Additional, software tools are needed for
the administration of chemical shifts, distances, angles and couplings
which could be interfaced with existing software packages. Knowledge of
Unix and common programming languages is required. This position could
be filled by either a Masters' or Doctoral level individual. Please
send a CV, summary of research accomplishments/programming experience by
email or fax to the address below.

There are immediate openings for one or more postdoctoral fellows
in my laboratory. Motivated individuals with experience in biomolecular
NMR (including protein spectroscopy, structure calculations,or dynamics)
or protein biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Please send your resume
to the address below.

The research involves studies of proteins involved in signal transduction
and regulation of gene expression. We utilize multidimensional
heteronuclear NMR methods to both examine structure and dynamics of
proteins as well as binding studies and correlation with function.

For examples of our current research, interested parties can refer to
our contributions at the recent ENC, or to the recent publications:
FEBS Lett. 415:221-226 (1997)
Structure 6(1):109-116 (1998)
J. Mol. Biol. 278(1):253-265 (1998)

The lab is well equipped with 500 and 600 MHz four-channel spectrometers,
computational resources, and facilities for protein expression, and
sophisticated isotopic labeling schemes.

A royal blue folder was left at the M R Resources booth some time
during the ENC. It contains a sticker for Dive Dive Dive Ltd. in
Nassau, Bahamas, and several pages of hand-written notes apparrently
taken during talks at the ENC.

If anyone knows who lost it, we will be happy to send it to them.

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION--BIOMOLECULAR NMR
              UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

Following a recent move to the University of Minnesota to lead a new
Program in Structural Biology and establish a premier NMR laboratory,
which currently contains a 500, 2x600 and a 800 MHz Varian NMR
spectrometers, applications are invited for two open Postdoctoral
positions. The field of research will involve the use of NMR methods
to forge new inroads into the characterization of: the structure and
metal exchange properties of proteins involved in metal homeostasis
and/or studies on select molecules involved in the immune response
(immunophilins, cyclosporin A, calcineurin).
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry,
Biochemistry or Biophysics, and demonstrated abilities (eg. through
publications) in multidimensional NMR spectroscopy. Experience with
computational methods ands protein expression/purification techniques
will be given special consideration. The positions are available
immediately, the salary competitive and commensurate with experience
with a term of 2-3 years.
Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae and three
letters of reference to:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in my laboratory at
the Medical University of South Carolina.

The main subjects of the research in the laboratory are computational
studies of molecular recognition, structure prediction, and applications
to signal transduction pathways and other molecular systems. We have an
immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow, who will be responsible for
modeling of integral membrane proteins based on the principles of
molecular recognition.

Due to the nature of funding, the person has to be US citizen or
permanent resident.

To apply send a letter and CV with names of 3 referees.
