In the frame of a toxicokinetic study, we are measuring pyrene and its
major metabolite, 1-hydroxypyrene, in biological tissues from rats. We
currently attempting to develop a method allowing the measurement of
1-hydroxypyrene in adipose tissues but are not able to recover this
metabolite from control tissues spiked with the authentic reference
standard. We do not however have any problems dosing the parent compound,
pyrene, with the various methods tested. I would greatly appreciate any
suggestions.
