One of my geologist colleagues who studies mineralization of animal
tissues asked me if the bones of newts and salamanders are organized into
osteons, and I have been unable to find a reference book with that
information. An osteon is a spindle-shaped unit of bone organization that
has layers of osteoblast lamellae around a central blood vessel. If anyone
knows the answer or knows of a reference text that would have that
information I would appreciate your help. Thanks,
