We have published a paper which included in situ hybidizations of a chaperonin mRNA with axolotl embryos at various stages. The method was a modification of the Hemmati-Brivalou et al procedure and the reference is: HB Sun et al. (1995) Biochimica Biophysica Acta 1260: 157-166. The method used on Xenopus embryos has not worked well with axolotls for us and the modifications described in this reference were found to be important. I'm sure others can supply other references.
