Dear Colleague,

to study pattern formation and to identify developmental control genes large
scale embryonic gene expression screens are now carried out with a number of
model organisms such as Drosophila, Zebrafish, Xenopus, and mouse. These screens
have yielded impressive results and have raised a number of conceptual and
technological questions.

We want to provide a forum for discussion of screening results, their
implications and related bioinformatic and technological questions. We therefore
have a workshop at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum Heidelberg on November
16th and 17th 1999 on

"L a r g e s c a l e e m b r y o n i c g e n e e x p r e s s i o n "
