Hello all,
I hope this message finds you all well. My apologies for those of you
who receive this message twice.
As we approach mid-summer, we're planning our annual breeding hiatus.
As we have done for the past few years, we're going to again designate
August as a month-off for our females, to give them a well-deserved
rest.
As happens every year, we see a dip in breeding success in the late
summer and early fall. To prepare for this, we give our females August
to bulk up, as a means to try to prepare them for the 'big push'
through the dry season. It seems that this year our dry-season is
hitting us a bit earlier than usual, but we got by very well last year
without too much of a problem, so I think it's just catching up with us
a bit earlier. We'll keep pairing animals until the onset of the
hiatus, and then call it quits, to pamper our females for a bit. We
always try to keep this hiatus at the same time of the year (August) in
order to allow you to anticipate it ahead of time, as well as to do it
at a time when classes are not in session (when most of us
academic-types grab our vacations!)
Our last batch of embryo shipments will go out on Monday August 2nd,
and regular shipping will resume Monday, September 13th.
As always, during this time we'll still ship larvae, juveniles, adults,
and supplies as we have them available. If you're anticipating
ordering anything to be shipped before, or immediately following the
hiatus (embryos or otherwise) please get in touch soon and place your
orders, to allow us to plan our last few weeks of matings. Please
don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions or
concerns.
Take care,
Jill Gresens
