Vit C & immune sys 2

Hello again ageing bionet readers,
I have been thinking more about Vitamin C, especially because of
concern about the volunteers for the AIDS vaccine test.
In the past I have thought curiously about the close similarity
of the molecular structures of Vitamin C and glucose. The animals, that
make their own Vitamin C, supposedly make it from glucose.
All of a sudden, like a bolt out of the blue, it hit me. Vitamin
C is the fuel that literally, not figuratively, energizes the immune
system. Why do animals convert glucose to Vitamin C? To make a fuel
that is specifically directed to the immune system, to ensure its proper
functioning. It all suddenly makes sense.
I thought this was important enough to follow up my earlier
posting.
Regards, Ralph
