Trochophores etc.

Coming back to original question: indeed, there are two approaches to the 
trochophore concept, ecological and morphological ones. Probably 
because being more morphologist than ecologist, I agree that the stage 
should be defined in terms of morphological characteristics rather than 
ecological ones. From this point of view, no matter where the larvae 
develop, in the plankton or in the special protecting structures. More 
important that they have a specific "trochophore" set of characters, which 
one is another issue.
