Dear Theresa,
The reproduction of Diopatra neapolitana of a population from Arcachon,
France, has been studied by Dr. Claude Cazaux and has been published
as follows:
Cazaux, C. 1972. Developpement larvaire d'annelides polychetes (Bassin
d'Arcachon). Archives de Zoologie Experimentale et Generale, 113, 71-
108.
The paper by Sang Choe (1960) that was mentioned to you on this list
does most likely not deal with D. neapolitana but D. sugokai, which is a
common species in Japan.
A paper describing rearing techniques using a tank system drawing water
from a lagoon in Sardinia may also be of interest to you:
Conti, G. & F. Massa. 1998. Esperienze di allevamento del polichete
Diopatra neapolitana delle Chiaje, 1841 nella laguna di S. Gilla (Sardegna
Meridionale). Biol. Mar. Medit. 5(3):1473-1480.
You have probably seen the following paper from the 4th Polychaete
Conference. It lists Diopatra cuprea cuprea, but deals more likely with D.
neapolitana:
Gambi, M.C., Castelli, A., Giangrande, A., Lanera, P., Prevedelli, D. & R.
Zunarelli Vandini. 1994. Polychaetes of commercial and applied interest
in Italy: an overview. IN: J.-C. Dauvin, L. Laubier & D.J. Reish (Eds),
Actes de la 4eme Conference internationale des Polychetes. Mem. Mus.
natn. Hist. nat., 162:593-603.
With best wishes, Hannelore
