National Geographic Television & Film is interested in producing a 1 hr
segment focusing on novelties among the Annelida. If you are aware, or
have footage, of unique annelid behaviors, morphologies, habitats, etc
that may have public appeal, please let me know and I will pass this
information along to the producer. Examples include unusually large
earthworms in Australia/Brasil, phosphorescent worms, parental brooding
in glossiphoniid leeches, Arctic tundra freeze-tolerant enchytraeids,
hydrothermal vent polychaetes, glacier ice worms, various "gilled"
species, regenerating/fragmenting oligochaetes...others? This seems to
be an excellent opportunity to promote annelids in both public and
scientific arenas, and can only help with future funding prospects...
I look forward to your suggestions.
