Thank you to all those who responded to my question regarding automated
Arabidopsis seed counting.
Unfortunately simply weighing out seed and estimating numbers isn't an
option where you need to determine the average weight or size of say
1000seeds.
So for anyone who may need to count seed in the future the answer is an
image analysis package; image tool - available from the NIH at:
http://rsb.info.nih.gov/nih-image/
Thanks to Rodney Mauricio and Adam Vivian-Smith for recommending it.
All that's needed is a digital camera mounted to a dissecting microscope
The software not only analyses seed numbers but also seed sizes and can be
automated with macros.
Thanks everyone!
