Dear Arabidopsis newsgroup users:

Some of you out there (perhaps many) may be unfortunate enough to have
to use VAX VMS mail systems. Unfortunately the mail systems in use on
these architectures are often based on proprietary standards which do
not always mesh well with the open Internet standards used by BIOSCI.

Why do I bother you with this??? Those of you in the above position
will unfortunately see ARABIDOPSIS postings from as
coming from an address called BIOSCI-REQUEST, and if you try to reply
to that message, your reply will be automatically addressed to
actually a mechanism used by us to divert bounced mail from going back
to the poster of the message or to the newsgroup. Unfortunately your
system might be misreading this as the address from which the message
originates. If you encounter this problem, just remember to include
one of the following addresses on your message if you wish to send
your reply back to the newsgroup for everyone to read. If you only
want to send your reply to the person who posted the original query,
look at the mail header to find that person's address.

Address Location Network
------- -------- -------
arab-gen at Ireland EARN/BITNET
arab-gen at U.K. JANET
arab-gen at Sweden Internet
arab-gen at U.S.A. Internet/BITNET

It is unfortunate that all computer systems do not follow the same
conventions for electronic mail, but I anticipate that this problem
will slowly go away with time.
