Lectureship in Botany


Applications are invited for a Lectureship in the Department of Botany,
preferably in a field that relates to plant development. The post is tenable
from 1January 1996.  The successful candidate will be expected to establish an
independent research programme and to attract external funding.

The Department of Botany provides a highly-rated and well-equipped research
environment, with current research income above #5 million.  Developmental
biology is a major theme within the Department and the School of Biological
Sciences, with excellent opportunities for collaboration already in existence.
The Department emphasises molecular approaches in its research activities, and
it is desirable that candidates have proven skills and strong research
programmes that utilise molecular technology.

Initial salary will depend upon qualifications and experience and will be on
the Lecturer Grade A scale #15,154 to #19,848 or the Lecturer Grade B scale
#20,677 to #26,430 p.a.
