Post Doctoral Research Associate Position in Plant Molecular
Genetics/Breeding

Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics, University of Minnesota, St.
Paul, Minnesota

The successful candidate will participate in molecular mapping and
marker-assisted selection with specific emphasis on Fusarium head blight
resistance in barley.  Emphasis will be on finding and locating useful
genes
and QTL and incorporating this resistance into elite germplasm.  Quality
traits and agronomic traits may be investigated.  Research goals also
include adaptation/ refinement of marker systems, and comparison of
methodologies.  Research projects are cooperative involving the
barley/pathology program and molecular genetics program.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in genetics, plant breeding, molecular biology, or
related field.  Experience in molecular marker technology and QTL
analysis
preferred.

Start date: On or before September 1, 1997 preferred
Period of appointment: 2 years

Salary: $26,000
