A postdoctoral position is available to study the biosynthesis of folates in
plants and their role in the control of the distribution of one-carbon units
to those metabolic pathways where they are required. Current interest
(visit www.usask.ca) centers on the isolation and purification of the
enzymes of folate metabolism and the generation of one-carbon units and
their delivery to the pathways of purine, methionine and betaine
biosynthesis in Arabidopsis, barley, wheat, sunflower, corn, spinach and Datura.

Candidates should have a background in plant metabolism and experience with
the use of modern biochemical techniques. Familiarity with the use of NMR
spectroscopy to study plant metabolism would be an advantage.

Send curriculum vitae, reprints, a letter outlining research interests, and
arrange to have three letters of reference sent to: Dr. John King,
