Project Title: Characterization of a new element with post-transcriptional
activity

Project Description:

The project is based on the recent discovery of a cryptic element in the
genome of Nicotiana tabacum which enhances post-transcriptional activity in
transgenic plants.  This element will be characterized in detail to
understand its mechanism of action and investigate potential applications
for crop improvement. Specific goals include the definition of the active
sequence, and the characterization of the mode and range of action of the
sequence.

Applicants must have a strong background in molecular biology.
