Tue Sep 15 11:27:32 EST 1998

A four year graduate student position is available in the Department of
Developmental Biology at CPRO-DLO, Wageningen, The Netherlands for the
project ‘Harnessing apomixis in petunia’. This project, which is funded
by an international seed company, has as aim to isolate mutants from
petunia that enter seed development in the absence of fertilization. The
idea being that these mutants will give access to genes involved in
apomixis, the process of clonal reproduction through seed. By using
insertional mutagenesis with the aid of transposons, isolated mutants
should give direct access to the corresponding genes.
