The MIPS database for chromosome 4 and the web interface has recently
updated (http://websvr.mips.biochem.mpg.de/proj/thal/chr4_index.html)

The first view is a clickable map of chromosome 4 showing a limited set
landmark markers. Clicking on the region of interest reveals a 2 Mb
path of BACs and all sequenced markers. Clicking on the BAC reveals a
window for searching by coordinate, classification (proteins with high
homology, unknown etc), type (eg EST sequences matching the region),
category (eg, metabolism, cell structure), prosite motifs (eg protein
SH2 domains etc). The detailed gene predictions from Genscan and
are displayed in an interactive Java viewer, and an overview showing
predicted gene structures, repeats and
other features, plus a facility to extract protein and DNA sequence and
out FASTA searches, are available.

In the next few weeks annotation of a further 40 sequenced gaps and BAC
will be completed. The sequence of another 8 BACs nears completion, and
completed sequence of 6 centromeric clones is being finalised to AGI
The assembled sequence will contain a gap containing pAL1 repeats, and
candidate clones covering this gap are being sought.
