Postdoctoral Position Announcement
Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions
A postdoctoral position is available to study the molecular genetics of
plant disease defense response signal transduction. The project will
analyze signaling events leading from pathogen detection to the
hypersensitive cell death defense response (HR) in Arabidopsis. The
research will use a conditional lethal screening method (see The Plant
Journal 14 (2), 247-257, 1998) to identify Arabidopsis mutants defective in
the HR. Possible projects will include: characterization of HR-defective
mutants; mapping/cloning of genes defined by HR-defective mutants;
differential display analysis to identify transcripts whose abundance
changes during the HR; T-DNA tagging and gain-of-function mutagenesis to
generate HR-defective mutants. Applicants should send their CV,
description of research experience and interests, and the names of three
references to:

Applications will be accepted until May 1, 1999 or until the position is
filled.
