<x-flowed>Research Geneticist (Plants), GS-0440-12/13.  The USDA-ARS
Soybean/Maize Germplasm, Pathology, and Genetics Research Unit
located at the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL is seeking a
permanent, full-time plant geneticist to be a member of an
interdisciplinary research team. The incumbent will be responsible
for a research program to identify, map, and determine the function
of genes that have major effects on economically important traits in
soybean such as seed yield, disease resistance, and seed composition.
The long-term objective of the research is to effectively utilize the
genetic diversity present in the USDA Soybean Germplasm Collection
for the improvement of soybean cultivars.  Applicants must have a Ph.
D. in plant breeding, genetics, molecular genetics or a closely
related field; knowledge of plant gene expression and molecular
genetics, particularly as applied to the detection of quantitative
trait loci; skill in molecular genetic technology; the ability to
construct and utilize genetic and physical maps; and the ability to
function effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary research
team. Must be a U.S. citizen. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience ($51,927 - $80,279 per annum).  For
