Arabidopsis seedlings - Root growth on agar surface

Hi,
      Sometimes when I grow Arabidopsis seedlings on agar plates
( 0.5 x MS,1% sucrose,0.8% Agar) ,the roots are not penetrating into the media
  instead grow upwards.Hence the seedling growth is not uniform.

Please give me some suggestions to get-over this problem.
