POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Department of Horticulture
Oregon State University
Corvallis, OR 97331

Position:

Faculty Research Assistant; full-time, 12-month, fixed-term position with
reappointment at the discretion of the Department Head. Anticipated start
date is July 1, 2005. Salary is competitive, and benefits package includes
several options for health/dental/life insurance, retirement, as well as a
new program of reduced tuition for dependants (some restrictions apply).

The purpose of this position is to study genetic mechanisms of oxalate
toxicity in Arabidopsis. This research is part of the USDA-ARS National
Sclerotinia Initiative (www.whitemoldresearch.com) designed to enhance the
disease resistance of plants. Because oxalate interferes with the
oxidative burst and interacts with calcium, insights into cellular
signaling are likely. For further information about current research
projects, visit www.science.oregonstate.edu/~stotzhe/index.html.

Qualifications:

B.S. degree, M.S. preferred, in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry,
or microbiology. Research lab experience required. Preferred

demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. This is a fixed-term
appointment with renewal at the discretion of the Department Head.

situated in the Willamette Valley between Portland and Eugene. Ocean
beaches, lakes, rivers, forests, high desert, the rugged Cascade and Coast
