Postdoctoral Scholar Position in RNA Biology

Western University, Pomona, CA, USA

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for studying plant RNA biology at Western University of Health Sciences, USA (in the metro area of Los Angeles). Funded by U.S. NSF, the successful candidate for this position will be mainly working on the role of polyadenylation factors in regulating alternative polyadenylation (APA) when responding to environmental and developmental signals. This is done through mutation and their complementation lines in Arabidopsis. The emerging theme of the role of alternative polyadenylation in plant gene expression was just realized in recent years as demonstrated in part by our recent publications (Wu et al, PNAS 2011, 108:12533; Shen et al, Genome Research 2011, 21:1478; Thomas et al, Plant Cell 2012, 24: 4376; and Ma et al, PNAS 2014, 111:9). Other projects related to RNA biology may be also explored.

Minimum requirement for the position is a recent PhD in molecular biology or related areas with strong commitment for basic research. Self-motivation and independency are important for the position. Initial appointment will be for two years, further appointment will be contingent on performance. Interested candidates should contact Dr. Q. Quinn Li at qqli from westernu.edu<mailto:qqli from westernu.edu>, by sending a CV, a short description of research interests, and contact info of three references. Further information about research in the Li lab can be found at www.westernu.edu<http://www.westernu.edu>; or www.polyA.org.
