Research Associate in Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics

University College London's Research Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment is looking to appoint a Research Associate in Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics to develop, implement and apply statistical and bioinformatics resources necessary for the MAGIC CARPET project, centred on the DIVERSE population of wheat MAGIC recombinant inbred lines. The post involves a combination of statistical genetics research, software development and support (a broad range of users, both academic and from the plant-breeding community will use the resources generated by this project). It builds on existing statistical and bioinformatics work in MAGIC populations in other species, but the complex nature of the wheat genome will require the development of novel computational methods. This post is funded for 36 months in the first instance and is available as of January 2016.

The position is funded by BBSRC and is supervised by Richard Mott at UCL UK, as part of a collaboration with NIAB Cambridge, UK.
