Assistant Professor/Research Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics
(Ref.: RF-2006/2007-465)

Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant
Professor/Research Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics in the
Department of Biochemistry and the Centre for Reproduction,
Development and Growth of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, from as
soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the
possibility of renewal.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree with at least 2-4 years'
postdoctoral experience and a proven excellent publication record as
well as experience in Bioinformatics teaching and research.  This
position is created under the Area of Excellence (AoE) Programme on
Developmental Genomics and Skeletal Research
(http://web.hku.hk/~aoebioc/), involving multidisciplinary
collaborations between scientists and clinicians.  The appointee is
expected to participate on the part of the AoE programme focused on
genomic approaches to study the molecular pathogenesis of growth plate
disorders.  

Annual salaries will be in the following ranges (subject to review
from time to time at the entire discretion of the University):

Assistant Professor	                :      HK$451,980 - 698,520

Research Assistant Professor	:      HK$487,320 - 593,100

 (approximately US$1=HK$7.8)

At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 16% of gross income. 
The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University
contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of
basic salary, as well as leave, and medical/dental benefits.  Housing
benefits will be provided as applicable for Assistant Professor.
