Scientist, Content Product Management - Northeast

OVERVIEW: 

Cognia Corporation is seeking a Content Product Manager. The position will
involve integrating diverse inputs to maintain and support current content
products. Responsibilities are for requirements gathering and translation of
market needs into design and specifications for Cognia content products. The
product manager provides assurance of ultimate product quality before market
release. Additional responsibilities include market research, participation
in strategic content planning, and providing scientific expertise during the
sales process. The candidate must have excellent domain experience in the
molecular biology arena and will be expected to work with Cognia's
Commercial and Product Development teams. The candidate should be
independent, mature, well organized, an excellent problem solver, a good
communicator, a good team member, and should work well under pressure.
Cognia works in a multi location environment, and candidates based in the
Boston or NY/NJ areas are preferred. Some travel to Cognia's New York City
and European offices and for Sales support is required. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Candidate must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology or a comparable
life sciences specialty 
*	Must support the specifications and market requirements gathering
for current and future products. This includes on-going visits to customers
and non-customers. Need to be able to synthesize requests from multiple
customers into new product features. 
*	Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi task 
*	Candidate should be a self-starter with good interpersonal skills 
*	Experience using or creating biological databases 
*	Candidate will have good familiarity with MS Office tools
*	Must be able to manage and prioritize releases, scope out features,
and build the business case for changes.  
*	Client facing experience a plus
*	Product management experience in database or content development or
publishing is a plus
*	Must be able to work in a multi location environment 


JOB DESCRIPTION:

*	Manage the ongoing design and specifications of Cognia content
products 
*	Assure quality of product before market release 
*	Support assessment of competitive products 
*	Support design of strategic content planning 
*	Liase closely with managers and development staff in release cycles 
*	Provide product expertise during sales process including
demonstrations and evaluations 
*	Provide scientific context and research workflow consultation during
sales process 
*	Write client facing documentation describing product offerings
*	Co-ordinate and lead various improvement projects within the
business and technical teams
