The Faculty of Veterinary Science is a world-class facility for
student learning, research excellence and animal welfare. Its Schools,
both in Camperdown and Camden, are recognised internationally as
leading providers of veterinary education and key contributors to
world best practice in the care and welfare of animals. The Faculty is
not only a teaching centre, but a specialist veterinary clinic that
conducts a range of veterinary services and provides general
consultations to the wider Sydney community.

The Faculty invites applications from highly motivated individuals who
can contribute to teaching, research and laboratory diagnosis in the
area of Veterinary Pathology, and who have broad experience in disease
and a special interest in veterinary anatomical pathology.

The Faculty has an innovative Veterinary Pathology teaching program
and state of the art microscopy teaching facilities. A case-based
diagnostic approach comprises a significant component of the
undergraduate teaching program, utilising a variety of delivering
media and teaching situations. There is a strong culture of learning
and teaching support and innovation within the Faculty and in
particular the pathobiology area. The Faculty has a leading role in
the Australian Society of Veterinary Pathology, and is a significant
contributor to the Pathobiology chapter of the Australian College of
Veterinary Scientists and to the Australian Animal Pathology Standards
Program.

The successful appointee will have a degree in Veterinary Science that
is registrable in NSW; a postgraduate qualification in the area of
pathobiology; experience in diagnostic pathology; the ability to
utilise diagnostic pathological material for teaching and research;
demonstrated capacity to undertake research relevant to the area of
pathobiology; willingness to undertake postgraduate training in
teaching, if not already achieved; demonstrated capacity to work
independently and in a team for teaching and research; and good
written and oral communication skills.
Highly desirable are a successful record of research grants and
publications in the area of pathobiology, public health or population
health; and experience in pathology related to veterinary epidemiology
and public health.
The successful appointee will be based at the Camperdown campus within
the Veterinary Pathology Diagnostic Service and will contribute to
teaching in veterinary pathology, and be expected to act as a unit of
study co-ordinator. They will contribute to and establish a strong
collaborative research program in the area of pathobiology relevant to
the Faculty's strategic research initiatives. The successful candidate
will be expected to provide anatomical pathology diagnostic support to
the UVCS and wider Veterinary profession.
The position is full time continuing subject to the completion of a
satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a
University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment
for new appointees.
Remuneration package: AUD 83,363 - 98,993 p.a. (which includes a base
salary Lecturer Level B AUD 70,443 - 83,651 p.a., leave loading and up
to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
