An NIH-funded postdoctoral research position is available to study the
design of post-exposure anti-toxin therapeutics against botulinum
neurotoxins in the laboratory. There is currently no effective
antidote for preventing or reversing botulism or paralysis once
exposure has occurred and symptoms of disease have initiated. A major
goal of this research is to design novel post-exposure anti-toxin
platforms for neuronal cell-specific delivery of therapeutic
inhibitors. Candidates would be working at the chemistry-biology
interface and should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical
biology or a related field with experience in protein chemistry or
protein engineering and molecular biology techniques.
