Manager, Drug Substance Manufacturing and Sourcing - Vancouver, BC
I am assisting to recruit a Manager, Drug Substance Manufacturing and
Sourcing for a great Vancouver, BC company. Here are the details:
Reporting to: Vice President, Pharmaceutical Sciences & Manufacturing
Position Summary
The position requires hands-on responsibility for Drug Substance scale-up
and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities include:
Provision of chemical development and project management expertise to
development of novel APIs by:
Providing expertise in API manufacturing from feasibility to commercial
scale manufacture.
Identifying suitable third party API suppliers as necessary and directing
chemical development activities at these sites.
Directing technology transfers between contractor sites.
Sourcing critical starting materials.
Estimating and tracking budgets and developing models for implementation of
cost efficient API development programs.
Developing and/or improving existing GMP infrastructure and systems to
ensure compliance with all GMPs.
Authoring technical development reports, SOPs, and CMC sections of
regulatory dossiers.
Presenting regular product development updates to management and project
team leaders in a matrix product development team structure.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure development of safe,
effective medicines in a timely and cost effective manner.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Minimum of a Ph.D. in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical
engineering, chemistry or a related discipline with at least 7 years of
experience in API scale up and manufacturing.
Experience in chemical process development, authoring of CMC sections of
regulatory submissions, and a track record of GMP compliance.
A solid understanding of basic chemistry and/or engineering, good analytical
and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a
multidisciplinary team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
The position requires up to 30% domestic and international travel.
