PATHOGENESIS of Intracellular Infection and Macrophage Cell Regulation

Description: The Division of Infectious Diseases, University of British Columbia and Vancouver Hospital Health Sciences Centre invite applications for a Post Doctoral Fellowship position to investigate the molecular pathogenesis of intracellular infection and macrophage activation. The focus of this CIHR-funded project is the pathogenesis of leishmania infection of macrophages and the role of PI3-kinase in macrophage cell regulation.
Requirements: Ph.D. with strong background in molecular biology, including sequencing, construction and screening of genomic libraries, mutagenesis, mammalian cell transfection and familiarity with software to analyze DNA. Candidates with additional experience in cell biology, biochemistry and cell signaling are encouraged to apply.
Duration and Salary: The position is available for one year and is renewable for up to three years, and will begin as early as January, 2008. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and according to UBC/CIHR guidelines.
