Postdoctoral Position as advertised on
http://www.PostdocJobs.com
An enthusiastic postdoc is invited to join our group to conduct
molecular
and cell biology studies on newly designed biomaterials. Guan lab has
recently developed a new family of safe, versatile and highly
functional
biomaterials based on saccharide-peptide hybrid copolymers.
Currently our group is pursuing basic research and potential
applications of
the new biomaterials in two directions: (1) develop efficient
saccharide-
peptide cationic polymers as safe and efficient vectors for delivering
small
interference RNA (siRNA); and (2) develop safe and versatile
saccharide-
peptide hydrogels for cell culture and tissue regeneration. The
research for
the appointed person will involve mammalian cell culture,
cytotoxicity
assays, gene transfection, and investigation of cell adhesion/
proliferation/
differentiation on synthetic extracellular matrices.
A Ph.D. with solid background in molecular/cell biology or related
area and
strong interests in biomaterials and chemical-biology interface is
required.
Experience with mammalian cell culture and basic cell and molecular
biology
skills are essential. Specific skills/experience includes common
assays/
techniques used in cell biology, quantitative analysis of gene
transcription
/expression level (real-time PCR, Northern blots, etc), light and
fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. Prior experience with RNAi
and/
or biomaterials is highly desirable. The position is available
immediately,
supported by a 4-year NIH grant.
We offer competitive compensation, exciting research projects, and
dynamic
interdisciplinary research environment. Applications with full CV,
research
summary and contact information of three references should be sent.
