availability of lactacystin

Lactacystin apparently is not commercially available.  However the
active form of lactacystin (clasto-lactacystin beta-lactone) (active
according to Dick et al in J Biol Chem 271, 7273 (1996)) presumably is
available from the company Proscript (formerly Myogenics), 38 Sidney
Street, Cambridge MA 02139; telephone 617-374-1470.  They apparently
have a development agreement on this and related inhibitors from Hoechst
Marion Roussel.
