Influx for Cell-loading

Funny you should mention it - I was just checking this newsgroup
hoping to get some "Influx" tips! I'm currently experimenting with it,
trying to get various dyes into HeLa cells. I'm yet to have any
success following Mol. Probes protocol.
As I understand it, the extracellular medium is taken up by normal
pinocytic processes and then the hypotonic treatment lyses the
hypertonic pinocytic vesicles, thereby releasing the extracellular
medium (and with it the compund of interest) into the cytosol.
My question is: do all cells (in particular HeLa cells!) undergo
pinocytic uptake under normal circumstances?
Any other tips are gratefully received.
Thanks
Tony Collins
