tryptic digestion of dead cells

I have found several vague references in the literature* to tryptic
digestion of dead cells.  I would like to know how significant this is
and how long it takes - more specifically, when I routinely trypsinize
my CHO cells, are dead cells disappearing due to tryptic digestion?

*mostly old (Northrup 1926 in J Gen Physiol 9 p 497 or Hoskins 1956 in
Expt Cell Res 11 p 297)
