Group Leader in Assay Development and Enzymology
Location: Indianapolis, IN United States 

Description:

The BioResearch Technologies and Proteins group, currently has one
Ph.D. level opening in Target Discovery, an integrated group of
Biochemists, Cell/Molecular Biologists and Molecular Pharmacologists
that are responsible for assay enablement, technology development and
new target discovery and validation.


Job Responsibilities:

The Group Leader in Assay Development and Enzymology will be
responsible for leading a group of 10-12 people in a lab setting.
Target Discovery is currently developing cell-based assays and
technologies to aid in the Drug Discovery process.


The position is responsible for communicating long range goals with
Vice President’s but also must have the ability to lead lab
technicians. On a day to day basis this person must be able to lead
the people in the lab while contributing to the work being done with
their own ideas. They will be developing enzyme assays, through
methods such as functional genomics, proteomics, and mining the
genome.


Requirements:


Must Have Core Skills:

PhD 
Industry Experience in Drug Discovery. (4 years or more) 
Enzymology and Analytical Biochemistry background. 
Demonstrated leadership ability of a team. (The team does not have to
be a large one)
Demonstrated ability to work in a Team environment.


Nice to Have Skills:

Fluorescence photometry 
Proteomics 
Functional Genomics 
Enzyme kinetics


Manager’s written Profile:

The candidate should have a Ph.D., post doctoral experience in
biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field with demonstrated
industrial expertise in the development of enzyme assays and
mechanistic enzymology. The ideal candidate will be proficient in
technologies related to analytical biochemistry, protein expression
and purification. Specific experience in fluorescence photometry,
proteomics, mechanism driven enzyme kinetics, and functional genomics
would be an advantage.


Enthusiastic and self motivated individual with excellent
communication and teamwork skills interested in:
(1) The discovery and validation of novel targets of therapeutic
interest.
(2) Initiating and championing novel drug discovery and/or assay
development projects.
(3) Collaboration with multifuntional drug discovery teams.
(4) Development, execution, and analysis of robust quantitative
assays.

            *****MUST HAVE HANDS-ON INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE.*****
