naming transposon-tagged mutants

A more fundamental question, which I think should 
be addressed first, is "How much information and what information should a 
strain (mutant) designation convey"?  Once that is answered to everyone's 
satisfaction, then we can perhaps settle the question about 
transposon-tagged mutants, plasmid-tagged mutants, dominance, 
mating-type, and so on.  Bob Hodson
