HEAD R.A. POSITION OPENING IN DROSOPHILA LAB AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY
Mark Krasnow's laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and
Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Stanford University (Stanford,
California) is seeking to fill an opening in the Head Research
JOB DESCRIPTION: Seeking a dedicated individual to work in a
stimulating and congenial environment conducting research on
Drosophila genetics, molecular/cellular/developmental biology, and
genomics. The lab is identifying and characterizing genes that
control the cell migration and tube-formation events that underlie
development of the Drosophila airways, a branching network of
epithelial tubes that serves as a model for the mammalian lungs and
vascular system (see Science 284, 1635-1639 (1999), Cell 99, 211-220
(1999), Development 127, 3271- 3282 (2000)).
The R.A. will research, design, and conduct experiments, and will
oversee aspects of lab management and organization.
QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. degree in biological sciences and at least 3
years related research experience, or an M.S. or Ph.D. with at least
1 year experience. Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques of
genetics and molecular and cellular biology. Experience with
Drosophila genetics preferred. Excellent organizational skills,
self-motivated, careful and efficient.
