TWO POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS - EXPERIMENTAL POPULATION GENETICS at STONY
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available to study the molecular
evolution and population genetics of the enzymes of the glycolytic
pathway with respect to metabolic control analysis in Drosophila.
melanogaster. The overall study involves such diverse skills and
interests as the quantitative genetics of metabolic energy pools, SNP
studies of geographic variation, pathway flux analysis using NMR, basic
DNA sequencing, and the kinetic characterization of enzyme variants.
Knowledge of some of these methods is desirable but not required for
consideration for the position.
The second position, which is NSF-supported, will focus on the QTL
mapping and goal of eventual recovery of the gene or genes responsible
for cold-induced female reproductive diapause in D. melanogaster. This
