[Drosophila] Position Available at the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center

Full-time position for a Research Associate with biology training and 
management capabilities with the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center Project
Department of Biology, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana

Applications are invited for a Research Associate who will function as 
Assistant Collections Manager for the Bloomington Drosophila Stock 
Center (http://flystocks.bio.indiana.edu/), an international research 
resource for biologists using Drosophila melanogaster. We are looking 
for a highly organized, self-motivated, computer-literate multi-tasker 
with a solid background in biology and strong communication skills to 
join a management team of biologists in the day-to-day operation of the 
Stock Center. The work includes coordination with the Collections 
Managers, day-to-day supervision of a team of technicians who maintain 
more than 20,000 genetically defined strains, computer support for 
custom stockkeeping and other database applications, processing new 
strains into the collection, restoration of compromised cultures, 
processing requests for stocks using custom database applications, 
correspondence with users of the collection, management of user 
accounts, troubleshooting Drosophila-medium-related problems, ordering 
supplies, and facilitating the smooth operation of the Center. BA, BS or 
MS in biology with relevant experience preferred. Logical, practical and 
flexible approach to organizational challenges and problem solving a 
must. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
