Postdoctoral Position, Drosophila Evolutionary Genetics

A three-year NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the 
laboratory of Dr. James Fry to
study the genetic basis of adaptation to dietary ethanol in 
Drosophila.  Ethanol is a natural
component of Drosophila breeding sites, and ethanol resistance shows 
substantial and
apparently adaptive variation among wild D. melanogaster 
populations.  The powerful genetic
tools available in D. melanogaster make this an excellent system for 
studying the genetic basis
of adaptive variation in a trait that has both ecological and medical 
relevance.  Preference will
be given to applicants with demonstrated experience in some or all of 
the following: basic
molecular methods, Drosophila genetics, bioinformatics, and 
population/quantitative genetics.
